How to: Bullet Journal Starter Kit

First of all: You don’t have to invest in anything if you want to start a Bullet Journal. All you need is a pen and a notebook. It doesn’t matter if it’s lined, squared or blank. I started out with a blank notebook and some pens I already had.

Here are my tipps if you want to invest in something special anyways:

Notebook:

It’s a great help if your Notebook of choice has dot grid pages. The two notebooks I use are from Leuchtturm1917 and from Rhodia.

Because of the regular points on the pages, it helps you to layout no matter what spread you want to do. If it’s a floral wreath, squared or lined layout.

It's quite hard to find dot grit notebooks in Switzerland, so I'm sure, there are a lot of amazing brand I never heard of before. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

Pens:

I’m truly in love with the Faber-Castell PITT artist pens. There’s the set of 8 PITT artist pens, XS, S, M, F, 1.5, B, SC, SB. So you have in one set from very fine ink markers to a brush pen, everthing you’ll need for layouting, writing and handlettering. It's the first set of pens I bought and I still use at least one of these pens for all of my layouts.

The Pentel Fude Touch Sign Pens are amazing to learn handlettering and bring a little colour to your Bullet Journal. The black pen, is one of my most featured pens since I bought it.

And of course, the Tombow Dual Brush pens. The almost overwhelming choice of beautiful colours is like nothing else. They’re quite pricey, that’s why I wouldn’t recommend them in your Bullet Journal Starter Kit. Use them as a reward with keeping up with your planning and journaling. And don’t worry, it’s totally normal to feel like there are always a new Tombow pen you NEED to buy :)

If you want to see how these pens performe, head over to my Instagram account. I usually feature at least one of the pens I use for every spread.

I know I repeat myself but it's really important. It's not a MUST to buy any of my recommandations if you want to start a Bullet Journal. All you need is a notebook of your choice and a pen of your choice.
